Interesting...

There is a trombone on eBay up for auction that is the same model that I have, the Yamaha YBL-613H. The auction for it seems ridiculous though. It's only a three day auction starting at $.01 with no reserve. Right now I think the bid is up to like $20.00 or something ridiculous like that. I'm curious to see what it would sell for...but at the same time, I don't want it to sell for something ridiculously cheap because the auction is set up retardedly. I was thinking about being shady and bidding like $500.00(approximately a THIRD of what I paid)for the horn because IF it does wind up selling for that price then I'd have one hell of a deal...but mainly because I'm evil and don't want to think that I overpaid(which for THAT horn I actually UNDERpaid by like $800)...so if on Thursday that horn is sitting there for like $400-$600 dollars then I'm going to buy, swap out the best parts from both horns(like the G tuning slide), then sell the other one HOPEFULLY turning a profit.

This horn looks to be in the same condition that mine is in...EXCEPT that it was a big dent in the bell and mine was customized to have the leadpipe be removable, plus this horn comes with the cheesy stock Yamaha case, while mine came with a $300 aftermarket case. The horn for sale is also missing the Gb paddle on the second trigger. That'd be one of those things that'd be a pain in the ass to get from Yamaha since it's a part you just can't buy off the shelf. There is also something pretty curious about the horn, on the bell it has the Yamaha engraving...but on mine it doesn't. I thought it was odd that Yamaha didn't engrave their logo on the bell, but I guess they do...interesting.

Ehhh...if anything, I at least got to see some more pretty pictures of "my" horn...

We'll see...

It is also interesting because along with this horn being up for auction, there is also a Yamaha YBL-613 for sale. The 613 is the preceding model to the 613H. The 613's starting bid is $1,750 which is pretty much what I expected to pay for a horn like that...it is also why getting my horn at $1,200 was a good deal, and probaly whatever price the other horn sells for it going to be ridiculous!!!

Here is the auction for "my" horn:

And this is why I check randomly check eBay for stuff that I've already bought...

It's cool...they are the exact some model of bass trombone, so I'm not changing anything, just using the part that has less scratches or whatever. I wouldn't mix parts from different manufacturers or anything, because those wouldn't fit right and would change the way the horn sounded...

I'm sure it'll be up in price in no time. I'm sure you'll end up getting the better deal. :) It would be cool to end up selling it and making a profit.

Well, I don't really play trombone. I played it for like a month in 8th grade. I played bassoon. He just likes to take pictures of me holding the trombone. Some kind of fantasy, I guess. lol :-P
